Our Trip to Maryland, pt. 3

Sunday 11/11 – We had a better sleeping night last night. Ian was very tired, plus having music helped him go to sleep, and having the windows covered helped him stay asleep. Even so, he was up for the day by 8:00. When we got dressed and went upstairs the birds had a bout of screeching which upset Ian, but they calmed down eventually and so did he. We had waffles for breakfast again today, with real maple syrup, which I’m sure Ian didn’t appreciate, but I did. We put on the Curious George movie and played around with the dogs for a while. Ian is so cute with little Hunter. After a while, he started to be restless, so we first went out to the backyard with the dog for a while and then walked down the road to a park where they had some playground equipment. It was still pretty chilly and wet and there was ice on the slides, but we managed to enjoy ourselves. Other people came too, which made it more fun. They had some old-style equipment, like a metal merry-go-round and teeter-totters, which Ian hadn’t been on before, so that was fun. We headed back to the house by 11:30 to finish getting ready to go and say good-bye to Ian’s “people.”

We got on the road by 1:15 and stopped pretty quickly to pick up some lunch. Ian had eaten a bunch of pretzels and other stuff at the house, so he was hungry, but not starving. Ian was very tired and fell asleep before 2:00. He slept for about an hour and I dozed, too. When he woke up, we played with the Magna-doodle and LeapPad book to keep busy. We stopped again for a diaper change and a drink and snack around 3:30, and then gas. When it got dark, I got out my laptop and we watched an Elmo dvd and the Curious George movie. With one more stop for dinner, that took us all the way home by 7:45. After letting him stretch his legs a bit, I took Ian up to bed. He really was exhausted and very, very happy to be in his own bed, so he fell asleep quickly. I emptied the car, watched tv for a while and called it a night myself.
