A cold, rainy day, shading into freezing. A real November day. Ian and I met Jean for lunch at Boston Chicken. Ian cooperated about as usual, and ate a fair amount. We ended up letting him play with the salt and pepper shakers to keep him distracted at the end. We might have gone to the library with Jean after, but I decided I was too tired, so we went home. I got Ian settled for his nap by 2:00 and laid down myself. Ian slept a good hour, which he has been doing lately, much to my relief. I really couldn’t take the half hour or 45 minute nap thing that he had been doing.
A funny thing Ian did this afternoon was get the clean sponges out of the dishwasher and announce that he wanted to clean things. He washed the floor in the front hall and also part of the wall there. It was too funny to see him working away with the sponges. “Clean (keen!) Mess!” I have been having an on-going sinus infection, and finally made a doctor’s appointment for this afternoon. David came home about 4:00 to watch the little guy, which was nice. My appointment was brief (hooray antibiotics!), so I voted (first time in Brighton!), got money from the ATM and stopped at the store on the way home. We played around as usual after supper, mostly in the living room and upstairs in the bedrooms, running around, jumping on the beds, snuggling and tickling. It’s so much fun to be Ian’s playmates now, especially since I know that the time when he wants to play with us like this will be so short over the span of his life with us. We had a nice bath, some time with Daddy and then it was time for na-nas and night-night. I still had to pick up my prescription, so I took a brief trip out to the store. I zipped the lining into my coat before going – which for me is always a sign that summer is really over. I was still very tired and fell asleep on the couch by 9:30.
