Saturday 11/3

The thermometer said 29 this morning and the grass was all white with frost. I guess, despite our good weather, winter is coming. We stayed in this morning, watched our shows, played with the trains and colored. After David got up, they spent some time downstairs and then Ian decided it was time for outside. It had warmed up enough by then and we played on the swings and in the sandbox. David mowed and Ian and I pulled some weeds before going in for lunch. After his nap, Ian and I went out to King’s Bend Park. No trains passed by, but we had fun anyway. There was a family there with children a little older than Ian who were happy to play with him. They had just some here from California and the kids were anxious to see snow. I told them probably by Thanksgiving. Ian had fun climbing all over, going down the slides, etc. We got home for dinner around 5:00. Ian went downstairs while I was working on it and didn’t want to come up when it was ready. So I took our plates down there. The side dish was cheesy pasta with broccoli and carrots and Ian decided that today was broccoli day, since he ate all of it off both our plates. He also ate the pasta, a few carrots and some of the meat. But if I offer broccoli to him again tomorrow, I’m sure he’ll refuse it. He watched Jonny Quest for a while and then came back upstairs to play before bed. We had some ice cream, and I was about to take him up, but David reminded me that it was “fall back” for daylight savings time tonight, so we kept him up a little longer than usual. We had a great time this evening, running and chasing, and playing upstairs. We took some cute videos of him, too. Ian discovered my old wooden chest that I have our winter mittens and stuff in and he decided that he wanted to put his things in there, too. So he got all his socks out of the drawer in the metal desk, as well as any sheets and whatever else he could find and stuffed it in there. Even dirty laundry. It was too funny. After a bath and a trip back downstairs to sit with Daddy for a little while, I finally nursed him to sleep by 9:00. He is still definitely getting those two-year-molars, as David was up with him for almost an hour last night. I was so tired I didn’t even wake up, which is unusual for me. Anyway, tonight when I was brushing his teeth, I noticed that at least one more molar has broken through – the other bottom one. I tried to check for the top ones, but he bit me for my trouble, so I gave up. Hopefully he will sleep better tonight and say in bed a little later in the morning, so we don’t have too much time change “jet lag.”
